Nigeria Unveils Robots for 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship

The Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande has officially unveiled Team Nigeria’s robots at a ceremony marking the nation’s participation in the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship.
The event, held on Saturday 22nd March 2025 at the Hybrid Glisten International Academy in Abuja, was a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s tech innovation, drawing in key industry experts, business partners, and supporters eager to witness the progress of the country’s youth in the field of robotics.
The Minister of Youth Development, represented by the Director General, Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS) Mr. Obinna Nwaka, expressed his enthusiasm for the event.
He highlighted that the students from Glisten International Academy, who will be representing Nigeria at the global competition in Dallas, Texas, are poised to make the country proud. The championship will take place from May 6th to 14th, 2025.
Speaking to the attendees, Nwaka commended both the organizers and the school management for their relentless efforts in fostering innovation among young Nigerians. He emphasized the commitment of the Minister of Youth Development to creating programs and initiatives that provide the necessary support and encouragement to nurture the reasoning abilities and technological skills of the youth.
“This is a proud moment for Nigeria, and we look forward to seeing the students from Glisten shine at the VEX Robotics World Championship. Their participation is a testament to the bright future ahead for our country in the tech sector,” Nwaka said.
The unveiling ceremony also saw a gathering of stakeholders in the tech business and educational sectors, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in advancing youth-driven innovation.
As Team Nigeria prepares for the global stage, their efforts are being recognized as a significant step toward promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and empowering the next generation of leaders.
