The 8 Division Nigerian Army Headquarters, Sokoto has commenced a three-day training for operations Cadre 2022 in Sokoto State.

Declaring the training opened, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, GOC Major General Uwem Bassey, described the training as timely considering the nature of operations Nigerian Army and other security agencies undergo in the country.

According to him, the training cadre would pave way in addressing various security challenges across all parts of the country.

“Every zone in this country has its security challenges, and each form of insecurity has its own peculiar challenges requiring individualised training for security personnel operating in various zones.

“The lectures in this training cadre are particularly crafted to provide security personnel operating in the Northwest region of operations with necessary tools for facing security challenges,” General Bassey said.

He noted that the participants were drawn from Armed Forces and sister security agencies to keep in line with the theme of the operations cadre planning training which is “Sustaining Capacity Building and Multi- Agency Cooperation: A Key to Defeating Insurgency and Terrorism in Northwest Nigeria.”

General Bassey explained that the theme also defined an approach showing security challenges and required collective efforts between all relevant stakeholders.

He further stated that the theme was directly tied with the vision of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Faruk Yahaya’s “A professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions within a Joint Environment in the Defence of Nigeria”.

The GOC applauded the Chief of Army Staff on behalf of the entire Division for his leadership and support which ensured the training Cadre became a reality.

He also urged the participants to take interest in all the presentations during the Cadre for a refresher approach that would assist in addressing security challenges in the country.
