As part of effort to improve the well-being of communities and to maintain Civil-military cooperation, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja has commissioned a newly constructed road, completed with the provision of solar street lights in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, North-Central Nigeria.
According to Lt Gen Lagbaja, the commissioning of the Special Intervention Civil-military Cooperation Projects, mark another important milestone in the Nigerian Army’s resolve to achieving its constitutional responsibilities through the conduct of critical aspect of the non- kinetic lines of operations.
He said that the Nigerian Army has a special regard for the peace loving people of Nasarawa State, for their continuous support in pursuit of their collective responsibility and desire for peace and security in the country.
“The continuous support of the good people of Nasarawa State has been instrumental to the operational successes recorded by the Nigerian Army in the State and across the North-Central zone of the country.
“The large turnout of the good people of Nasarawa State to this commissioning ceremony is a testament to how highly people appreciate the efforts of the Nigerian Army,” he said.
Speaking on quick impact projects, the Chief of Army Staff noted that the Nigerian Army has undertaken numerous quick impact projects focused on improving the well being of communities across all the geo- political zones of Nigeria.
“One component of the quick impact projects is the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-military Cooperation Projects designed to provide support to communities of Nigerian Army senior officers who though through their selfless service to the nation have risen to the enviable rank of Major General
“I am therefore glad that Nasarawa town and indeed Nasarawa State is blessed with one such accomplished senior officers in the person of Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim.”
He described Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, the host and executor of the project as a devoted senior staff who have served in different capacities, held several appointments and has distinguished himself in service to the nation.
“The commissioning of this newly completed projects is indeed a testament to his accomplishment in the course of his illustrious career”.
“I must therefore commend Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim for a job well done and also for his passion to give the best for his Community”
“I am certain that the project will serve the purpose for which it was executed so let me therefore urge you, the good people of Nasarawa town to remain committed in providing timely and actionably information to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the state to enable us provide the required safe and secure environment for your socio-economic activities and growth,” he stressed.
On Nigerian Army partnership with other communities in the country, he said “arising from the Nigerian Army to partner with all our communities towards nation building, our projects are carefully conceptualised to elicit substantial interests from the people who are expected to take ownership for good management.
“The projects are equally services, amenities and infrastructure,” he explained.
General Lagbaja stated that in line with this initiative, the Nigerian Army has so far constructed and rehabilitated Hospitals, Schools, provided computers and other information and Communication technologies and library facilities stressing that others are construction of community town halls, roads and sinking of boreholes amongst several others.
“As of today, the Nigerian Army has executed over 210 of such projects across the six geo-political zones of Nigeria” he disclosed.
“Feedbacks from the field indicate that these projects have impacted positively on the Communities and contributed to our non- kinetic drive within the contemporary security environment,” he said.
The Chief of Army Staff thanked the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces, President Bola Tinubu for his continuous and strategic guidiance and invaluable support to the Nigerian Army.
“I thank you sir for the confidence you have always reposed in the Nigerian Army.
“I therefore reassure the nation of the unalloyed loyalty of the Nigerian Army to the president and to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
He emphasized that the Nigerian Army is a people’s Army and the place of the people in their operation, just like people need the Nigerian Army , the Nigerian Army also cannot achieve its constitutional mandate without the people’s support.
He reaffirmed that under his leadership, the Nigerian Army will remain committed to pursue both kinetic and non-kinetic lines of operations in collaborations with other security agencies, ministries, departments and agencies of Government and of course other well meaning Nigerians or citizens to improve the security situation across the country.
He therefore encouraged all citizens to keep believing in them and remain resolute in their support to the Nigerian Army.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief of Civil Military Affairs, CCMA, Major General Nasakhare Ugbo stated that the execution of the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-military Cooperation Projects is premised on the need to compliment the efforts of the States, Local Governments and other credible Non-govermental organisations in providing essential services and infrastructure to the concerned communities.
He noted that the sustainment of this drive is in line with the Chief of Army Staff passion to provide solid administration been one of the anchors of his command’s philosophy that seeks to transform the Nigerian Army into a well trained, equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving our constitutional responsibilities
He commended the roles and contributions of the people of Nasarawa State in Nation building saying their support are well noted and acknowledged.
“The Nigerian Army being the people’s Army, holds the place of the people in the highest esteem, hence the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-military Cooperation Projects are geared towards improving the living standards of the well indigenes of our beloved communities across the six geo-political zones of the country.”
He urged the beneficiaries of the project in Nasarawa State to do well to maintain the facilities provided to the community so that their benefits are not short lived.
On his part, the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr.Abdullahi Sule, commend the military for their roles in the State.
The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner of Special Duties, Security and Sundry Matters, Ambassador Timothy Kasuwa stated that the Military has done so much for Nasarawa State interns of providing security in the State.
He said the State Governor is committed to ensuring that there is peace and security in the State.
“Nasarawa State remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria today because of the roles of the military and and other security agencies in the State.”
He assured that all the projects will be maintained to ensure that the good people benefit from them.
“We will engage the military and local government authority here to maintain the project.”
Members of the community also expressed their joy and appreciation to the Nigerian Army, most especially Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim for his examplary leader and passion for human and infrastructural development.
