The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8 Division, Nigerian Army Headquarters, Major General Godwin Mutkut has decorated two newly promoted Officers.

General Mutkut made the decoration at a brief ceremony at the Officers Mess of Giginya Barracks in Sokoto State.

The officers who were elevated from rank of Colonel to Brigadier Generals at the recently released promotion for year 2023 are: General Abdullahi Ajadi Babatunde Acting Commander 8 Division Intelligence Brigade and Brigadier General Emmanuel Jonah Acting Commander 8 Division Finance and Accounts.

General Mutkut urged the newly decorated senior officers to key into the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, to effectively perform their command responsibilities.

While congratulating the new Generals, the GOC further urged them “to have a sober reflection on why they were chosen amongst multitudes to be promoted.”

General Mutkut further reiterated his commitments to ensure welfare of troops in the division.

He also implored them to reflect on the core values of the Nigerian Army not just as officers, but also as general who sacrifices their experience and knowledge on promoting operational activities of the army.

General Mutkut also urged them to devote themselves to their added responsibilities as it is a rank that requires only the best.

On behalf of the newly decorated Generals, Brigadier General Abdullahi Babatunde thanked the COAS for his magnanimity in finding them worthy to be promoted.

Brigadier General Babatunde appreciated the GOC for creating enabling ground for them to serve the NA to earn promotion.

He also thanked other senior officers for their support and cooperation that lead to their elevation.
