Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have intensified their campaign against criminality with a precise raid on a suspected cultist hideout in the North Bank area of Makurdi, Benue State.
The raid is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace within the state capital and surrounding communities.
According to a statement by “the Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Operation Whirl Stroke, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, the troops arrested seven suspects linked to cult-related violence, armed robbery, and drug abuse.”
All suspects are currently in custody for further investigation and possible prosecution through appropriate law enforcement channels.
The Force Commander, Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism and urged them “to sustain the tempo in the ongoing fight against criminal elements threatening the region’s peace.”
He also appealed to youths, particularly students in tertiary institutions, to reject cultism, drug abuse, and other criminal activities.
General Gara emphasised the importance of discipline, patriotism, and respect for the rule of law as the foundation for lasting peace.
