Nigerian Army Investigates Allegation of Brutality by Personnel

The acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has ordered an immediate investigation to unravel the true circumstances surrounding an altercation captured in a video between a senior Army officer and 2 soldiers a man and a woman.

A statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu said though the circumstances leading to the incident are not clear, the attention of the Nigerian Army (NA) has been drawn to the viral audio-visual recording circulating on social media platforms, purportedly showing the altercation within the Abuja metropolis.

He said the Nigeria Army remains committed to serving and protecting all law-abiding Nigerians as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He therefore urged the public to be assured that due diligence will be applied to reach a logical conclusion on the matter.
