The Nigerian Army has relieved the immediate past Commander of 3 Brigade Kano, Brigadier General MA Sadiq of command to ensure a thorough investigation into allegations against him.

An update by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu said the Commander is currently undergoing a military investigation into administrative discrepancies while he was Commander of 3 Brigade.

The Nigerian Army said as a self-regulatory institution founded on the bedrock of discipline, justice, and accountability, it has zero tolerance for indiscipline and will not condone any form of misconduct or illicit actions or inactions that could undermine the threshold of its values and principles.

It expressed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and its transparency remains unwavering.

It also guaranteed the public that “the process would be fair, impartial, and in line with our established procedures.”

The statement addressed recent media reports highlighting allegations against General Sadiq, including accusations of misappropriating palliative supplies meant for soldiers and their families.

Reports suggest that he allegedly withheld palliatives, such as rice, provided by the Defence Headquarters, and instead sold military equipment intended for operations against terrorists and kidnappers, including generator sets and operational vehicles.

Further allegations claim that Sadiq misappropriated official military property, including a MIKANO heavy-duty generator, which was reportedly sold to scrap dealers. In light of these allegations, General Sadiq has been replaced by Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, a former registrar of the Nigerian Defence Academy.

The Nigerian Army has therefore assured both its internal and external publics that the allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate administrative action will be taken.
