The 42 Engineer Brigade, Letmuck Barracks of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Oyo State, has solicited the support of the Oyo State Water Corporation for the provision of potable water within the barracks community.
The Commander, 42 Engineer Brigade, Brigadier General S.O.J. Aremu, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the office of the Water Corporation.
Brig.Gen. Aremu noted that the efforts of the state government in the reactivation and rehabilitation of the water reservoir at Letmuck Barracks is commendable, saying the corporation is a partner in the progress of the Nigerian Army in as much as water is life.
He stated: “The Oyo State Water Corporation is one of the major stakeholders helping the Nigerian Army in achieving the primary responsibility to make army live, fight and move.”
Brig.Gen. Aremu disclosed that the Army is seeking collaboration with the Oyo State Water Corporation on how to get water to Odogbo Barracks, enhance provision of potable water to Letmuck Barracks community, as well as provide water to the new facilities of the Nigerian Army at Agodi.
Responding, the Chairman, Oyo State Water Corpration, Mr Elias Adeojo, said the Agency has made provision of potable water to residents of the state a priority despite the limited resources at its disposal.
Adeojo noted that Governor Seyi Makinde has given his approval for the rehabilitation of water equipment of the Corporation to meet the yearnings of residents of the state on provision of potable water
