The 2025 Grammy Awards nominations have once again shone a spotlight on Nigerian artists and the growing influence of Afrobeats on the global stage, with several top acts earning nods across key categories.

For the second consecutive year, the Best African Music Performance category has returned to the Grammy Awards, reflecting the increasing global recognition of African music. Nigerian artists are leading the charge, with multiple nominations affirming their dominance in this category.

Burna Boy, a Grammy veteran, secured a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for his hit song “Higher” from his album I Told Them. This marks his second straight nomination in this category, reinforcing his status as one of Afrobeats’ most influential figures.

Asake, one of the genre’s rising stars, also earned a spot in the same category with his collaboration with Wizkid on the track “MMS.” The song brings together two of Nigeria’s biggest names, blending traditional Afrobeat rhythms with modern sounds to create a track that exemplifies Asake’s unique style.

These nominations not only celebrate the talent of individual artists but also underscore Afrobeats’ growing global reach and influence in the music industry. As the 2025 Grammy Awards approach, all eyes will be on these Nigerian acts as they continue to push boundaries and elevate African music on the world stage.

Several Nigerian artists are making waves at the 2025 Grammy Awards with multiple nominations. Davido earns his second nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for his feature on Chris Brown’s track “Sensational,” alongside rising star Lojay, marking Lojay’s first-ever Grammy nod.

Yemi Alade also celebrates her first solo Grammy nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for her song “Tomorrow.”

Tems is a major contender this year with three nominations: Best African Music Performance for “Love Me Jeje,” Best Global Music Album for Born in the Wild, and Best R&B Song for “Burning” from the same album, making her the only African artist with multiple nominations across different categories. Additionally, Rema received a nomination for Best Global Music Album for HEIS.
