The Armed Forces of Nigeria have put smiles on the face of military youths by organising talents sports hunt.
The Chief of Defence Staff represented by Director of Education, Rear Admiral Chibuike Azike made this known during the Opening Ceremony of the Abuja Military Barracks Youths Sports Championship in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal capital territory.
The Nigerian Defence Chief, General Lucky Irabor said that “talents will be discovered from this championship, among who will expect to have future prospects that will blossom into national and international champions”.
Irabor said this championship forms part of the overall federal government’s vision of youth empowerment as over 500 youths from the various tournaments participated in these sporting championships which featured football, basketball, badminton and volleyball.
He also commissioned the remodelling complex to create an enabling environment for the youths on sports activities.
Earlier, the Director of sports, Air vice Marshal Framma Batnah in his remarks said that the “championship will foster cooperation among the barrack youths and to help them to keep fit amongst other benefits”.
The championships had teams Mogadishu, Zuma, Mambilla, NAF Base and Lungi.
