Nigerian Breweries donates books to Northern Schools

The Nigerian Breweries, NB has donated about 1,500 text books worth three point five million naira to three secondary schools in the northern part of the country.

The Corporate Affairs Manager, in charge of the North Kabiru Kassim who spoke to newsmen at the event of the 7th edition “Maltina Teacher of the Year” said, the donation is done yearly as part of NB’s social corporate responsibility.

According to him, the company this year considered vulnerable schools as beneficiaries, listing them to include, Chibok Girls’ Secondary School, Maiduguri, Govt Girls’ Science School, Kwoi, Kaduna and Tradoc Military School, Minna, Niger State.

Kassim further stated that the company also recognised one special school called Abdulsamad Raji in Sokoto State where crouches, hearing and teaching aids were also donated.

The Corporate Affairs Manager disclosed that, L200 Mitsubishi vehicle was donated to Kaduna State Vigilance Service, KADVS to enhance the security situation in the State.

He said the gesture was to support the State government’s efforts in boosting security from the grass root.

On the Maltina Teacher of the Year, Kassim mentioned that, the event holds annually where participants are drawn from the 36 states of the country and the FCT respectively.

Publications are usually made on all media platforms and this year, over 1800 participants applied and winners from 12 states emerged. They won 500,000 naira each, while the overall winner won one million naira which is to be given for five years consecutively”.

The Corporate Affairs Manager said the school from which the overall winner emerged from will also have classrooms worth 20 million naira built for them.

The 12 winners emerged from Borno, Plateau, Kogi, Kebbi, Niger, Zamfara, Nassarawa, Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi states.
