Nigeria’s Broadband Service Provider, Galaxy Backbone, says it is in partnership with the Gombe State Government to provide ICT facilities, using technology to curb criminality in the state.

The Group Head, Regional Offices for Galaxy Backbone, Mr. Abdulmalik Suleiman, speaking on the sideline of the First-ever Gombe State Investment Summit in Gombe, where it exhibited its product to the public, said that Galaxy Backbone was collaborating with the state government to ensure the development of its Safe City capacity.

“If you look at the Ease of Doing Business index, Gombe is high up there. In terms of security, Gombe is one of the secure states in the North East and also its centrality. So, we are working with the state government to complement these efforts that are already achieved. So, the Safe City Project is on, and God willing, before the end of the year, we should be able to complete it,” Mr. Suleiman said.

He also announced that the Nigerian Broadband Service Provider would soon launch its 4G capacity transmission in Gombe State, after its regional office in Gombe begins operations on October 25, 2022.

Mr. Suleiman said operations would commence with the provision of an additional 4G transmission capacity and a provision of metro fibre to other areas of need.

According to him, Galaxy Backbone, as a Federal Government ICT Company, provides services to private and public sectors in the area of connectivity, enabling the public to have internet, data service centres among others.

Mr. Suleiman said the state was an investment hub, stressing that the summit was being held at the right time, due to the hospitality provided by the people.

“What this has done, even by attendance, it has opened our eyes to a lot of possibilities that we never knew before and I see it getting better”, Mr. Suleiman added.
