Nigerian Citizens Special Awards debuts in Abuja

To boost citizenry participation in national development, Nigerian Citizens Special Awards (NCSA), an annual Awards that recognises Nigerians cutting across the private and public sector has debuted in Abuja, the nation’s capital city.

NCSA identifies with individuals and organizations doing great in their various sectors, spotlighting their outstanding achievements within and outside Nigeria; as well as strategically command the global recognition of Nigerians who are active game-changers, making substantial difference.

The breakdown of the categories are as follows; NCSA for service to arts, NCSA for new age business innovators, NCSA service for life time achievement/merit awards, ,NCSA for service to community, NCSA for service to education, NCSA for service to healthcare, NCSA for service to entertainment, NCSA for service industry, NCSA for service for international achievement, and NCSA service to sports.

NCSA Project Manager, Femi Oyelade, who briefed newsmen on the official launch of the NCSA at the weekend, Abuja, said the initiative is the  re-branded version of Nigeria @60 Special Awards hosted by The Presidency, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on the eve of Nigerian’s Independence Day Celebration in 2021.

Oyelade explained that all the NCSA awards, which would cut across 6-geopolitical zones of the Federation, are underpinned by the overarching qualities of transparency, integrity, determination and achievement.

He said: “The NCSA is one of the ways we can appreciate and celebrate ourselves as Nigerians, and as a country united against all odd. 

” We believe this laudable venture would further bring the people closer to the Government, encourage Nigerians to do more positive acts that would benefit the nation at large while promoting the image of the country abroad. 

“We, therefore call on all well-meaning Nigerians from the public to the private sector to support this project as your corporate social responsibility.

According to him, each Nominated individual will be independently vetted based on their merit, public opinions, substantial contributions to their category, and on popular vote. To solidify the nomination of each participant, a follow-up screening session will be conducted.

He added that the website will be officially enabled for nominations to be uploaded by the public from the 10th of May 2022 and closes on the 30th of June 2022. Collation and screening takes place from the 30th of June to the 11th of July, while voting commences on the website only from 20th July to end on the 30th of August, 2022.

He further disclosed that the award winners across all categories based on merits, votes and substantial contribution to their respective categories will be uploaded on the website for all to see before the main award event, slated for September 2022, when  the award recipients will be unveiled.
