Nigerian Contingents to UNISFA Celebrates Nigerian Army at 160 Years

The Acting Head of Mission and Force Commander UNISFA, Major General Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr led the Nigerian Base Defence Company at the finale of the weeklong celebration of NADCEL 2023.

Major General Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr praised the Nigerian contingent for their contribution to UNISFA mandate implementation.

He emphasised the rapid growth of the Nigerian Army from 1863 till date as an institution that has helped to hold the Nigerian nation as one and projects its image in regional and global security.

Major General Sawyerr urged the troops to continue to be disciplined, loyal and submissive to constituted authority. The 160 strengths of the Nigerian Contingent Force to UNISFA commanded by Colonel EJ Nkwereuwen were joined by members of other contingents and components to celebrate the week-long activities.

The Commander of the Base Defence Company Colonel EJ Nkereuwen read the Chief of Army Staff’s goodwill message while. The weeklong celebration witnessed the Juma’at Prayers, the Interdenominational Church Service, a 3.5 km walk, a novelty volleyball match and the wreath laying at the UNISFA Force Headquarters Foyer.
