Nigerian Correctional Service Promises Safety Of Personnel, Inmates.

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has restated its commitment to ensuring the safety of its personnel, the inmates and the correctional facilities.

In a statement by the Service Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Umar, the Acting Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche took the stand while reacting to unfortunate escape of some inmates at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, koton_Karfe during which a personnel of the correctional service, Shuaibu King David lost his life at the incident.

Ndidi Nwakuche remarked that some strategic action plans and measures have been developed to forestall such incident and improve adequate safety mechanism for the personnel, the inmates as well as the facilities around the country.

The Controller who announced the tragic demise of Senior Correctional Assistant , Shuaibu King David during the unfortunate escape incident at the Medium Security Custodial Centre noted that the late officer during the incident bravely stood his ground in an effort to prevent the escape of the inmates and protect the integrity of the centre.

“His courageous sacrifice reflects his unwavering dedication to service and national security”, he said.

The Acting Controller-General of Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche on behalf of the Nigerian Correctional Service, extends heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues, and loved ones of the Late personnel.

“His service and ultimate sacrifice will forever be remembered and honoured, we actually regret his untimely death. “ he noted.

Nwakuche informed that Nigerian Correctional Service is working closely with relevant security agencies and communities to recapture those still at large and bring them to justice.

Additionally he said, measures are being taken to enhance security in all custodial centres across the country to prevent such occurrences in the future.
