Nigerian Defence Academy Leads Charge Against Insecurity

The Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General JO Ochai has emphasized the need for a collective effort to address insecurity in the country in a bold move to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges across the country.

Speaking at Afe Babalola University, Major General Ochai stressed that all citizens must play a role in providing information to security agencies to effectively combat insecurity.

“The armed forces and security agencies can only create an enabling environment for lasting peace and security,” Ochai noted during his lecture on “Insecurity, Leadership and Peace Building in Nigeria: Dynamics and Challenges.” 

The NDA Commandant in a statement by the academy spokesperson Major Mohammed Maidawa, praised Afe Babalola University’s founder, Emmanuel Aare Afe Babalola, for investing in education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability, sparking innovative ideas among students and staff.

The lecture generated significant interest among students and staff, demonstrating the university’s commitment to fostering informed discussions on critical national issues.

To commemorate the occasion,  Major General Ochai presented a souvenir to Babalola, solidifying the partnership between the Nigerian Defence Academy and Afe Babalola University.

This call to action comes as the Nigerian Army charges junior commanders to embrace professionalism in tackling insecurity  With the Defence Academy taking the lead, Nigeria may finally see a turning point in its fight against insecurity.
