Renowned Nigerian filmmaker Bolanle Jenrola has launched a new television series aimed at helping teenagers explore issues of identity, leadership and personal growth through relatable storytelling.

According to a post via her Instagram page on Monday, Jenrola said the series titled ‘Taste of Kingship’ was created as a mentoring tool that uses storytelling to guide young audiences as they navigate life decisions.

“Stories shape how young people see themselves and the possibilities available to them. With Taste of Kingship, the goal is to create engaging stories that entertain but also help teenagers think about character, leadership and the choices they make,” she wrote.

According to Jenrola, the television format offers a deeper opportunity to develop characters and lessons that young viewers can follow over time.

“Film allows you to tell one story, but a series allows you to build a world and explore different experiences that young people can learn from,” she added.

She however noted that, the growth of digital platforms has made it easier for independent creators to connect directly with audiences and build communities around meaningful stories.

“With platforms like YouTube, storytellers now can connect directly with audiences and build stories that inspire people across different places,” she stated.

Jenrola, who has worked across film, television and literature, has built a career in the Nigerian creative industry as a producer, director and executive producer.

Her previous work includes the feature film Trigger, which was distributed on various streaming platforms.

She also previously worked as a producer at Accelerate TV before becoming supervising producer of the Accelerate Filmmaker Project, a programme designed to train and empower emerging filmmakers in Nigeria.
