The project was spearheaded by the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) in partnership with the USPF and aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda to enhance digital education.
Arowosafe emphasised that the centre underscores the government’s dedication to fostering a tech-savvy workforce and driving economic growth through strategic investments in education and technology.
He highlighted the centre’s significance as more than just a physical structure but a representation of vision and commitment.
The facility, which is powered by solar energy, is seen as an investment in the future of Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.
Arowosafe detailed the USPF’s mandate to provide ICT access to underserved communities and celebrated the ETC as a key milestone in bridging the digital divide and promoting digital inclusion across the country.
The centre is outfitted with 100 desktop computers, emerging technology applications, and connectivity tools to support students and faculty members.
OGITECH, with its 9,300-student capacity, is recognised as a leading institution of technology in Nigeria. Arowosafe expressed pride in partnering with OGITECH to bring this project to fruition and urged students to fully utilise the centre to maximise their potential.
He stressed the project’s contribution to Nigeria’s economic growth and development and highlighted the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in ensuring the project’s sustainability.
Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, Rector of OGITECH, acknowledged the institution’s need for the centre and its vision to become a premier technological hub.
He encouraged students to use the facility to develop productive programs and applications, aiming to positively impact society.
Oluseye noted that the centre would provide students with a competitive edge in today’s AI-driven world, especially in designing solution-based devices.
In conclusion, both Arowosafe and Oluseye urged students to leverage the new centre to enhance their skills and contribute to the institution’s and society’s growth.
The inauguration of the ETC marks a significant step forward in the Nigerian government’s efforts to advance digital education and technological innovation in Nigeria.
