The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has called on Kenyan authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Ms. Ladi Anzaki Olubunmi, a Nigerian TikTok content moderator employed by Teleperformance, a social media contracting firm in Kenya.

She also urged the Nigerian High Commission in Kenya to closely monitor the case and provide necessary support to Olubunmi’s family during this difficult time.
Dabiri-Erewa further emphasized the need for a Labour Mobility Law in Nigeria, stating that such legislation would help protect Nigerians working abroad by ensuring proper documentation, monitoring, and support systems.
Dabiri-Erewa emphasized that establishing such a law would help prevent situations where Nigerian citizens struggle with employment conditions, lack of mental health support, or difficulties in returning home when needed.
The NiDCOM Chairman extended heartfelt condolences to Ms. Olubunmi’s family, friends, and colleagues, while urging Nigerians in Kenya to remain calm throughout the investigation.
She reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment, through NiDCOM, to protecting and assisting Nigerians worldwide.
Additionally, Dabiri-Erewa advised Nigerians seeking employment abroad to engage only with reputable organizations and be fully aware of their rights and available support structures.
Ms. Olubunmi, who had worked with the company since 2022, was found dead in her Nairobi apartment last week after being absent from work for three days.
