Nigerian Government Pledges Commitment to Improve Adolescents Health

To improve the well-being of the Nigerian youths through health, Education and Social welfare, the Federal Ministry of Health has hold a Global Forum for Adolescents 2023 in Abuja the nation’s capital.
The Forum is aimed at improving and addressing the challenges the young generation are going through by providing concrete measures in ensuring that such challenges are tackle.
Minister of Health and Social welfare Muhammed Ali Pate noted that the role of adolescents in the society can not be over emphasised.
“On behalf of the Nigerian government we commit to strive to increase our financial commitment and the policies to develop programmes and service delivery action that will improve adolescents well-being.
“The Federal government of Nigeria is totally committed to all efforts directed at adolescents and young people potentials in nation building for them to become healthy at adolescent now, healthy adults at the future and flourishing the healthy generation in the future.”
While making presentation the Deputy Director, Department of Family Health, Dr Amina Mohammed said adolescents group constitute 22% of the Nigerian’s population.
“Therefore to secure and sustain our future economic, social and political progress and stability, we need to make a strong commitment to close the gaps in the and development of our young who are the future.”
Mr Idoko Philip Advocacy Officer, said they carried out activities that concerns the well-being of adolescents and currently they are on a project campaign 1.8 BILLION YOUNG PEOPLE FOR CHANGE.
“The project is a campaign that is looking to mobilise political and financial commitment from world leaders to ensure that issues affecting adolescents health and well-being is prioritize.”
The theme for the forum is, “WITH AND FOR ADOLESCENTS OUR FUTURE IS NOW.”
The Forum had in attendance of many Non-governmental Organisation such as UNESCO, WHO, UNICEF and pleagde to offer support in ensuring that the future adolescents in Nigeria is brighter.
