The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in Nigeria, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, has reiterated the federal government’s dedication to addressing the housing needs of Nigerians.

Belgore emphasized this while hosting the Marketing Manager of China Harbour Engineering Company Limited, Mr. Nicholas Liu, who led a delegation to the ministry.
“The primary mandate of the housing ministry under the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is to provide more housing for Nigerians,” he stated.
He further explained that the ministry currently oversees 14 active construction sites across the six geopolitical zones, developing housing cities and estates expected to be commissioned by May 29th.
Belgore assured the Chinese delegation that the ministry welcomes Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to enhance housing solutions in Nigeria, urging collaboration to ensure timely delivery of more housing units.
“By May 29th, the Renewed Hope Housing Units will be ready to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
The administration is strongly committed to solving the housing problem, not just in the FCT but across Nigeria,” he remarked.
In response, Nicholas Liu highlighted that China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC) has successfully executed large-scale urban housing projects in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.
He added that CHEC follows the principle of “building, operating, and developing cities,” with a strong track record in urban planning, construction, industry import, and operational management. Notable projects include Colombo Port City in Sri Lanka and The Grand in Los Angeles, USA, showcasing the company’s extensive expertise in urban development.
