Nigerian grassroots football needs massive investment in terms of funding and infrastructure to maintain its steady growth, said Moses Momoh, the founder of You and Football agency in an exclusive chat with Voice of Nigeria (VON) in Abuja.

Momoh said while Nigeria was blessed with football talents, the infrastructure and financial injection was still lacking.

“It’s high time we deeply look into the situation of grassroots football in Nigeria,” Momoh said. “Football is one of the major key sectors that bring people together because of the passion and love they have for the game. It’s unites us and fosters peace among ourselves.

Basically, the foundation of every individual in respect of your tribe, religion, social status, your colour of skin is a key factor to be considered if truly we want to achieve great success in the sports, most especially in the football industry.”

He urged the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development to therefore provide the necessary structures, facilities and reliable professionals with an in-depth knowledge and passion for football.

Momoh added that such manpower must possess the culture of maintenance to help the grassroots football all over the country to grow faster.
