Nigerian lawmaker partners with NGO to train 557 youths on skills acquisition

A Member of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Balarabe Salame (APC-Sokoto) has sponsored the training of 557 youth on various skills acquisition programme in Sokoto.
Salame, member representing Gwadabawa/Illela Federal Constituency organized the exercise in collaboration with Free Light of Nigeria Youth Foundation (FLONY), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).
At the end of the one-week training, Salame expressed happiness over the exercise, saying that the gesture has impacted a lot of on the teeming Youth.
“I am very grateful with the commitment of the Youth to learn new skills toward improving their living standard. This gesture is part of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s agenda toward addressing the number of unemployed Youth and eradicating poverty in our society. We really appreciate FLONY’s dedication and generosity in making it possible for our teeming Youth across the country to gain new skills for our country’s best future,” he said.
He added that the beneficiaries of the training will be supported with N20,000 each under President Buhari’s Poverty Alleviation Programme.
The Federal Lawmaker urged the beneficiaries to generously utilise the opportunity toward supporting their family and the society at large.
In her remarks, Ambassador Farida Jauro, FLONY National President, thanked the Lawmaker for making it possible for the NGO to succeed in the assignment.
“He has generously offered a lot of support and guidance to us, as such we should all appreciate him for his sustained fatherly role in ensuring a better future for the Youth,” she said.
She added that the beneficiaries who were mostly women received training on computer digital marketing, Make-Up, cake making, cosmetics making, detergent making, Throw Pillows among others.
