President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare and dignity of the Nigerian Armed Forces, assuring that the nation will continue to stand firmly behind those who defend its sovereignty.
In a signed message to mark the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, the President on thursday, said a secure Nigeria depends on the courage and sacrifice of its military personnel highlighting that his government remains resolute in supporting the military in the line of duty.
The President paid glowing tribute to the brave men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces who laid down their lives in service to the country, noting that their courage continues to sustain Nigeria’s freedom and peace.
“On this Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration Day, Nigeria pauses to honour its heroes.
“We remember the brave men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces who sacrificed everything for our country.
“Their names might not always be remembered, but their courage sustains our freedom and peace. A nation that forgets its fallen heroes loses its direction; Nigeria, however, remembers,” President Tinubu added.
Emphasising the importance of preserving the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, the Nigerian Leader said that “a nation that forgets its fallen heroes loses its direction; Nigeria, however, remembers”.
He also extended heartfelt words to the families of fallen soldiers widows, children and loved ones acknowledging the depth of their loss and the enduring pain of their sacrifice.
“I also speak today to the families of our fallen heroes- widows, children, and loved ones. Your loss is profound, and no words can replace the sacrifices of your loved ones. They served Nigeria with honour, and our people will never forget their sacrifices,” he added.
President Tinubu equally celebrated serving military personnel across all formations, praising their discipline, courage and professionalism in protecting the nation on land, sea and air and far from their families.
“Today, we celebrate our serving personnel. From the frontlines to support positions, on land, sea, and air, you carry the heavy responsibility of protecting our people and sovereignty with discipline, courage, and professionalism, often far from home.
“As President and Commander-in-Chief, I reaffirm my commitment to the welfare and dignity of our Armed Forces. A secure Nigeria stands behind those who defend it. We will continue to support them in action,” he said.
The President concluded with prayers for the repose of fallen heroes, strength for the Armed Forces and continued blessings for the nation.
“May our fallen heroes rest in peace.
May God strengthen our Armed Forces.
May God bless Nigeria,” President Tinubu added.
