Nigerian military enhances strategic management skills to address security challenges

The Nigerian military, along with other security agencies and civilians, has received training in strategic management and policy studies to address the security challenges facing the country.
The Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja disclosed this during the graduation ceremony of 19 Officers graduating from the Strategic Management and Policy Studies Course Six 2023 at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Represented by the Chief of Training Army, Major General Sani Mohammed, the Army Chief described training as a way of driving personnel to develop and improve on human capital in realization of the constant changes in the environment especially the complex security challenges confronting the nation.
General Lagbaja who was the Special Guest of Honour, said “the objectives of the course was hinged on enhancing knowledge, skills and competence of participants to enable them formulate, implement and evaluate policies as well as manage human and material resources in all forms of establishments, be they simple or complex organisations or environment.”
In his keynote address, the former Chief of Army Staff, Retired Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Danbazau, described training as essential in the military, especially in terms of strategic management, leadership, and policy studies to improve national security.

He said that “the training with help all the military , other security agencies and the civilians to fight insecurity for security is everybody’s business.”
In his remarks, the Director General Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Retired Major General Garba Wahab said that “the course was aimed at exposing participants with requisite skills and knowledge towards optimal performance.”
The director charged participants to practicalise the knowledge acquired during the training whenever they deployed at the field and in the course of their duties.
The course, which lasted for eleven months, were meant for the Nigerian Military, Paramilitary, Ministry Department and Agencies of Government and Civilians among others.
