Nigerian Music Stars Dominate Global Stages in a Single Weekend

Nigerian music stars had a spectacular weekend of global performances as top Afropop artistes dazzled audiences across the world, showcasing the industry’s expanding cultural and commercial influence.

Asake and Wizkid were among the major highlights in New York City on Saturday. Asake headlined the Red Bull Symphonic concert at Brooklyn’s iconic Kings Theatre  a one-night orchestral reinterpretation of his hit songs.

He was joined on stage by Wizkid, Gunna, Central Cee, Tiakola, and Fridayy, who made surprise guest appearances. Asake also gave fans a taste of his upcoming album by performing a new, unreleased track during the show.

Meanwhile, Grammy-nominated superstar Davido thrilled fans in Dubai with a headline performance at the Coca-Cola Arena as part of his 5IVE ALIVE world tour. He attracted fans from across the Gulf region, further underscoring Afropop’s growing influence in the Middle East.

In the Caribbean, Afropop powerhouses Olamide and Ruger thrilled audiences at Afro Nation Punta Cana, part of the festival’s Nov. 7–9 lineup. Videos of Ruger’s energetic performance and Olamide’s headline set quickly went viral on social media.

Over in Brazil, Tems represented Nigeria at AFROPUNK Brasil in Salvador, Bahia, on Sunday, joining a lineup that celebrated African diasporic culture.

Similarly, Kizz Daniel performed in Stockholm, Sweden, on Saturday as part of his European tour, Kizz Daniel Live with Full Band, while BNXN (formerly Buju) headlined Indigo at The O2 in London on Friday, Nov. 7, for his Captain Tour.

In the UK’s northwest, fast-rising singer Fave graced multiple events in Manchester over the weekend.

Nigerian artistes continue to dominate international stages, headlining major venues and top-tier festivals worldwide  exporting Afropop culture while boosting tourism and global brand collaborations.

UK-based media personality Adesope Olajide, popularly known as Shopsydoo, captured and shared highlights of the weekend on Instagram. He praised the stars as “ambassadors promoting our culture and bringing nothing but positivity to our people and the rest of the world.”
