Nigerian police arrests syndicate of suspected bandits in Niger State

The Niger State Police Command in North central Nigeria has arrested a syndicate of suspected bandits in Kagara area of the state.
A statement to Voice of Nigeria, by the state command’s Police Public relations officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, mentioned that the suspects were arrested by the operatives of operations puff adder 11 attached to Kagara Division.
“The four suspected bandits are ;Shehu Usman aged 21yrs, Idris Ado aged 20yrs, Nasiru Dogo a.k.a Badari aged 21yrs, Umar Yahaya age 21 yrs, all males from Garun-gabas village of Rafi Local government area of Niger State”. added DSP Abiodun
According to DSP Abiodun the suspects were intercepted and arrested with 2 locally fabricated guns while on their way to a local market in Garun-gabas village.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to some of their cattle rustling escapades at Garun-gabas and Garun-dangana villages and its environs in Rafi local government area”.
The statement equally announced the arrest of one Jamilu Ibrahim a.k.a “Gerald” for killing one Alhaji Samaila Isyaku of Tunga-bako village during the Local Government Chairmanship political campaign rally in Kagara town.
The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Monday Bala Kuryas,who further directed for a discreet investigation into the cases for the suspects to be prosecuted accordingly,commended the police operatives for the ongoing hunting of bandits and other related criminals across the State.
He however urged security operatives in the State not to relent in the onslaught against banditry and other criminality in the State, while calling on members of the public to continue in giving credible information about any person or group of persons of suspicious character in and around their neighborhood to the Police.
Last month the operatives of the puff adder of the Nigerian Police smashed about 10 suspected bandits in an encounter in kundu village of Rafi local government area of the state.
Local government areas of Rafi ,Munya, Shiroro and neighboring villages in Niger state have came under series of attacks by bandits recently, which resulted to the kidnapped of travellers, schools children and animals rustling.
The state government in partnership with security agencies have launched a combine crack team of both local vigilante groups and the security agencies in Rafi local government area to curtail the menace of bandits and other criminal elements in the zone.
