Nigerian Police Restates Committment to Professionalism, Impartiality

The Nigerian Police has emphasised the need to re-strategise ahead of the upcoming Gubernatorial election in Ondo State, scheduled for November 16th 2024.

 

The Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetokun laid the emphasis while in a strategic meeting with Assistant Inspector General of Police and Commissioners of Police from all formations, zonal and state commands at the Good luck Ebele International Peace Keeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

 

IGP Egbetokun revealed that the NPF is fully committed to impartiality, professionalism, and the highest standards of conduct to safeguard democracy in Nigeria.

Successful operations

The Police Chief during the meeting,  highlighted several significant achievements of the Police Force in recent months, including successful operations against organised crime, improved response times to emergencies, and increased community engagement initiatives.

 

Noteworthy successes in combating kidnapping, armed robbery, and violent crime were emphasized, showcasing the dedication and resilience of our officers in ensuring the safety of citizens.”

 

He also engaged senior officers present in thorough discussions focused on decisive action plans to further reinforce law and order”.

 

The IGP further underlined the necessity of renewing the focus of the police on public safety and achieving operational excellence in service delivery to all citizens.

Rigorous training sessions will be conducted for police personnel to prepare them for their duties, with a focus on conflict resolution and maintaining public order during the elections.

 

The IGP further announced the senior police officers’ conference and retreat which would take place from November 25th to 28th, 2024, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

 

He said that the event aims to provide a platform for high-level discussions on Force Management, Operational Strategies, Policy Formulation, and leadership development within the Force.

 

In closing, the IGP stressed the indispensable value of camaraderie, teamwork, and shared purpose within the Force.

 

The Police Chief reiterated the importance of collaborative efforts with relevant governmental and non-governmental agencies, as well as community stakeholders, in achieving common goals.

 

“A united front is imperative in tackling the multifaceted security challenges faced by our nation.”

 

The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to transparency and effective communication with the public and will continue to work diligently to ensure the safety and security of all citizens and maintain law and order across the country.
