Nigerian President Commends Police Leadership, Calls For Integrity

The Nigerian President Bola Ahmad Tinubu has commended the Police leadership, urges adherence to integrity, honesty, and compassion.

President Tinubu who was represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima gave the commendation during the Passing Out Parade of the 5th Regular Course Cadets, held at the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, Kano State, Northwestern Nigeria.

He urged the new graduates of the Nigeria Police Academy to be the uncompromised guidance of the nation by eschewing corruption and ensuring accountability while adhering to the ethics of modern policing.

He said the country has faith that the graduates who were trained in character, academically and professionally would impact positively to the security architecture of the nation, aimed at having a secured society.

The President said; “The world is waiting for you. Be the uncompromising guidance of your fatherland. Be the compass of modern policing that is intelligence-led and technology-driven.

“Work with competence, integrity, and respect for fundamental human rights.

“Ensure accountability and eschew corruption to enhance economic and social development of the society as you go into the field.” 

On Security, President Tinubu said; “this administration is committed to implementing effective measures to combat the security challenges in Nigeria and our synergy is the surest ticket to that destiny. We are implementing a comprehensive approach that focuses on key areas.

“First, we are investing in our law enforcement agencies to enhance their capabilities and effectiveness. We are offering extra resources, training, and equipment to bolster our Police Force and Security Agencies.

 “Simultaneously, we are enhancing our intelligence and systems on both national and information-sharing international levels. We acknowledge that addressing security challenges necessitates cooperative endeavors with other countries. Hence, we are establishing alliances to adeptly tackle transnational threats.”

Furthermore, we are executing all encompassing social programme and economic development projects aimed at fostering inclusiveness, social unity, and economic prospects for everyone,” the President stressed.

He said his administration would not relent in providing all the necessary support to the Academy, stressing that Nigeria Police Academy is one of the best training grounds for police officers in sub-Saharan Africa.

President Tinubu urged the cadet officers to stay vigilant to the ideals of the Nigerian Police, geared towards ensuring effective service delivery.

He expressed confidence in the ability of the graduands to fit into the agenda of the present administration, saying “with the quality of training that you have received over the five years in the Academy, I believe you are adequately prepared to serve this country.”

May you all embark on this journey with courage and determination, knowing that the nation needs your patriotic services. Stay vigilant, stay united, and stay focused to the ideals that make our Police Force an exemplar of honor and integrity,” President Tinubu emphasised.

The Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, AIG Sadiq Abubakar thanked the Nigerian Government for the unwavering support to the institution.

Abubakar said that the successful graduation of the 169 cadets was a testament to the present administration’s commitment to infrastructure and manpower development in the Force.

He said the Degree Awarding institution which was established in 2009 has from inception to date, graduated officers who have contributed immensely to the development of the nation’s security architecture.

The highpoint of the event was the presentation of a sword and prizes to the best graduating cadets, the symbolic piping and commissioning of the cadets by the President who was the Special Guest of Honour.

The ceremony was graced by the Acting IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Service Chiefs, Emirs, Parents of Graduates, and other stakeholders.
