Afro Pop artist and songwriter Nwoko Chinedu, known by his stage name Yprince, has revealed that he recognized his musical talent early on while growing up in Niger State.

During an interview with journalists from News Men on Sunday in Abuja, the emerging artist, originally from Imo State, shared that he began to cultivate his musical abilities during his time in secondary school.

“In my secondary school days, I formed a music group where we write and present our songs in social gatherings like the gala night and some notable school events.

“I started listening to the likes of Akon, Michael Jackson, Davido , Psqaure, Paul play, Tuface idibia and Style plus.

“Listening to these great musicians and watching them perform on stage became my source of motivation,” he said.

The 27-year-old artist mentioned that his parents and siblings have shown tremendous support for his music career, aiding him in any way possible.

“I can literally tell my mom to sing my song word by word, and she will do so, effortlessly.

“I am really grateful to God for the kind of parents and siblings i have. They are a blessing, to me,” he said

YPrince explained that his songwriting inspiration stems from personal experiences, relationships, his environment, and observations of daily life, both his own and those around him, as well as broader societal dynamics.

“I have released six songs so far, including, “All I want” in 2016, followed by another one titled “4u” which was officially published in 2021.

I later released an EP called ”Nextbigthing” which has three songs in it – ” Ojoro” , “You I see’, and ‘Ifemi” .

“Then i recently released a song titled ” ‘Obianuju’ and I also have other musical projects I am currently working on,” he said.

He disclosed that he “is currently working on a Campus tour to create awareness and gain a good fan base”.
