Nigerian Senate Confirms Nwakuche As CG, Nigerian Correctional Services

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Mr. Sylvester Nwakuche for appointment as the Controller-General, Nigerian Correctional Service.(NCS).
His confirmation followed consideration and adoption of report of Committee on Interior on screening of Mr.Nwakuche at plenary on Tuesday.
The report was presented by the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Adams Oshiomhole (APC-Edo).
Senator Oshiomhole, presenting the report said the committee, while conducting the screening exercise interrogated the credentials and capacity of the nominee to be appointed as Controller-General of NCS.
He said the committee found the nominee as one with an impeccable character full of exposure, experience, intellectual energy, drive and worthy of the appointment.
He said the nominee had been involved in several command positions and had benefited from training and re-training as an officer of the NCS.
He said there was no petition against the nominee, saying that he displayed a great deal of intellect at screening exercise.
He urged the senate to approved the appointment of the nominee.
President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio after a voice vote approval, congratulated Mr.Nwakuche, expressing hope that his confirmation would spur him to further give his best to the service of the nation.
He commended the committee for the screening exercise conducted on the nominee, saying that his confirmation was coming at a period of repeated jail breaks, expressing hope that such challenges would come to an end.
