Nigerian Society of Engineers Decorates 142 New Fellows

The Nigerian Society of Engineers has decorated 142 new fellows, after a thorough screening process.

The event which took place in Abuja was done by the President/Chairman-in-Council Mr. Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari-Wudil.

While congratulating the new Fellows, Mr. Gidari-Wudil said exercise was a major attainment of the new fellows.

He said that the Conferment came with great responsibilities to the profession and society.

As a Fellow of the Society, you have automatically assumed the responsibility of being a role model and mentor to younger Engineers. You will also be expected to increase your participation in NSE activities and in making valuable contributions to the growth of the Society. In addition, it is expected that you will always uphold good character and ethical values that will portray you as a worthy NSE Ambassador as you deliver value-adding services in your respective endeavours, towards the development of our beloved nation,” he said.

Commenting on the trending topic of materials used for road construction in Nigeria, Mr. Gidari-Wudil said the Society is planning to hold a National discourse on the matter.

He said; “Few weeks ago, a debate was sparked in the media and engineering circles by statements made by the Minister of Works, David Umahi over the preferred or most potent materials for building roads. I am using this opportunity to announce to you that we have decided to organise a national discourse on the subject – National Highways: Between Asphalt and Concrete. All stakeholders, including the Federal and States’ Ministries of Works will be invited. Planning has commenced and a date will be announced soon.” 

Mr. Gidari-Wudil further reminded the Fellows of the Annual Engineering Conference, Exhibition and Annual General Meeting of the Society scheduled from November 27th to December 1st, 2023.

The theme of the conference is “Re-Engineering the Manufacturing Sector for Competitiveness and Enhanced Economic Growth.”
