Youths in Nigeria have been urged to join the fight against cybercrime and look at ways to solve problems in the society.
The Executive Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa gave the advice at the Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation 2021 Scholars Mentorship Forum in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Bawa said; ”Cybercrime is evolving and there was need for the youths to use their brainpower to create positive change and values for the society.”
He advised participants at the event to shy away from every form of criminal activity and report any suspected issue of cybercrime to the Commission through it’s social media platforms, stressing that ”confidentiality is 100 percent assured.”
The EFCC boss lamented that “some of those who have been convicted for various cybercrimes are venturing into the political cycle which is very dangerous as these could lead to the collapse of the society.”
Bawa was represented by Head of Cybercrime, Mr Abba Sambo.
A former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekau advised participants to emulate the virtues of the Late Sir Ahmadu Bello to better the society.
The Director General of the foundation, Abubakar Gambo said 200 hundred participants were selected from the 19 Northern States including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, for the Foundation’s scholarship and mentorship programme.
Among the 200 participants, 92 graduated with first class from various fields of study
Gambo urged participants to go back to their states and help government solve issues in the society.
