Team Nigerian has won yet another medal through Bose Omolayo who grabbed the silver medal in women’s up to 79kg Para Powerlifting at the ongoing Paralympic Games.

Omolayo has now finished on the podium for the third consecutive Paralympics, lifting 145kg to win a Silver medal, adding to the two gold medals she won in Rio and Tokyo.

Omolayo was visibly in discomfort coming for the third attempt, having injured her right arm after her first attempt, and scored two consecutive no-lifts, but she had done enough to secure a medal for her country.

She won Nigeria’s third medal on Saturday and now six medals overall.

Powerlifting has been the country’s most successful event at the Games, boasting 24 gold medals, 16 silver medals, and 14 bronze medals before the commencement of the Paris 2024 Games.

They will hope to add more today when Tokyo 2020 gold medallist and Commonwealth Games champion Folashade Olwafemiayo and Loveline Obiji compete in the women’s +86kg and 86kg, respectively.

Obiji is also a two-time Paralympic medallist in the event, winning silver in Tokyo 2020 and gold in London 2016.
