Nigeria’s Cabinet honours the late Agriculture Minister

Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council on Wednesday honoured  a former Minister of Agriculture in the country who died on Monday.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha announced the death of Malami Buwai, 76, who was Minister of Agriculture from 1994 to 1996 under the regime of the late Head of Head of State, General Sani Abacha.

The virtual cabinet meeting, presided over by Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, observed a minute silence in honour of the late Buwai and prayed for the repose of his soul.

Prof. Osinbajo is presiding over the meeting, which commenced at about 10.00am Nigerian time, from the First Lady’s Conference Room, the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Ministers physically present at the Presidential Villa for the meeting are Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Information and Culture; Zainab Ahmed Finance, Budget and National Planning; Abubakar Malami, Attorney General and Justice; Babatunde Fashola, Works and Housing; and Saleh Mamman, Power.

Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari; Deputy Chief of Staff, Adeola Ipaye; National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; and Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijani Umar, are also physically present at the meeting.
