Nigeria’s former Information Service Officer in US, Dangogo passes on

Nigeria’s former Information Service officer in the United States, accomplished Journalist and Public Relations expert, Mallam Kabir Dangogo is dead. He was 76 years.

He brought his prolific journalism and public Relations experiences from the New Nigerian newspapers and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) to bear on his job as the United States information officer, building bridges in global information management.

As an academic, the late Mallam Dangogo was an adjunct faculty at the Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna, the first polytechnic in Northwest Nigeria.

He left an indelible mark in public relations practice in Nigeria and Africa as a whole, working as Public Relations Manager of Union Bank, one of the notable banks in Nigeria, formed the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks, ACAMB to reinforce enlightenment campaigns on banking services to Nigerians home and abroad.

After his retirement from the banking industry, he established a Public Relations firm – Trimex Communications and Training School in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria to train Nigerian youths in the art of public relations sophistry, offer public relations services as well as host global events.

Mallam Dangogo’s expertise and contributions to the public relations profession were recognized globally. He was elected a Fellow of the International Radio and Television Society (IRTS) in New York in 1981 and became a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in 2000.

He received numerous awards, including the NIPR President’s Award for Excellence in Public Relations in 1996 and the Lagos State Chapter of the NIPR Award for Excellence in Public Relations in 2005.

The African Public Relations Association (APRA) and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) were among the organizations that recognized his contributions to the profession.
