Nigerian culinary star Hilda Baci, who captured global attention in 2023 with her record-breaking cooking marathon, has once again entered the Guinness World Records.
Guinness World Records confirmed on Monday that Baci, in collaboration with Gino Nigeria, cooked an astonishing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lbs 9 oz) of jollof rice during an eight-hour open-air cooking session at Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event, which attracted hundreds of guests and featured live performances, was aimed at securing Nigeria’s edge in the long-running culinary rivalry over West Africa’s most iconic dish, jollof rice.
To meet the official record requirements, Baci disclosed the precise measurements of each ingredient used in the giant pot.

This is not the first time the celebrated chef has made headlines. In May 2023, she achieved worldwide recognition for the longest individual cooking marathon, clocking 93 hours and 11 minutes in Lagos, an achievement that garnered both national and international acclaim.
