Nigeria’s Para-Athletes Win 11 Gold, 5 Silver Medals In Switzerland
Nigeria’s Para-Athletics team at the just concluded 2021 World Para-Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland ended the competition with 11 gold medals and five silver medals.
Multi-gold medalist, Flora Ugwunwa, led the medals haul with three gold, while Chituru Nwaozuzu, Eucharia Iyiazi, Onyegbule Lovina, Ahiaukwu Joy, Lauretta Onye, Amon Abraham and Edosomwan Osahon accounted for the rest of the gold medals.
The silver medals came from Chituru Nwaozuzu, Eucharia Iyiazi and Michael Olushola, who won two silver medals at the weeklong championship held from May 11-17, 2021 in Nottwil, Switzerland.
President of the Nigeria Para-Athletics Federation, Amobi Chikwendu, while congratulating the athletes for making Nigeria proud at the global championship, equally thanked he Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare.
Dare ensured the country featured at the championship that also served as a Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games qualifier.
Nigeria went with 10 athletes and two coaches, Patrick Anaeto and Divine Jemerigbe.
