The Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) has inaugurated its Federal Capital Territory chapter in Abuja, with a charge to strengthen advocacy and reposition tourism as a driver of economic growth.

Speaking at the ceremony, which took place at Blu Cubana, Abuja, National President of ATPN, Femi Fadina, described the launch ‘as a bold declaration that tourism in Nigeria is vibrant and ready to flourish.’

He urged members of the new chapter to serve as the face of tourism before policymakers, the voice before investors, and the strength of the association before the global community.

Addressing a distinguished audience of stakeholders, industry practitioners, and invited guests, the President emphasized that Abuja was not just a location but “the stage on which Nigeria tells her story.”

He charged the new FCT Abuja Chapter to see themselves as the face of tourism before policymakers, the voice before investors, and the strength of the association before the world.

Fadina also encouraged members, describing the day’s rainfall as a sign of blessing rather than disruption, saying “it symbolised a fresh start for the chapter to grow strong, fruitful, and enduring.”

He pledged the full support of the national body in empowering practitioners, attracting investors, and positioning Abuja as a major tourism hub in West Africa.

The inauguration was charged with energy and optimism as Mrs. Abigail Olagbaye, ATPN Vice President (FCT), expressed heartfelt gratitude to the President for his presence and encouragement.

She described the ceremony as “a turning point for tourism in Abuja.”

In her closing remarks, Ms.Juli Ofuyeta, newly elected Chairperson of the ATPN FCT Chapter, delivered a vote of thanks, appreciating the national leadership of ATPN. She pledged the Chapter’s readiness to live up to its responsibility as a dynamic, innovative, and strategic arm of the association.

The inauguration has set the stage for tourism practitioners in Abuja to harness opportunities, influence policy, and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s tourism growth agenda.

With this milestone, ATPN reaffirms its commitment to inclusiveness, excellence, and professionalism in driving the Nigerian tourism industry forward.
