The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Charles Anosike, has been honoured with the BusinessDay Public Service Excellence Award 2025, presented during the BusinessDay Public Lecture Series and Excellence Awards.
Now in its seventh edition, the prestigious award recognises distinguished public sector leaders who demonstrate exemplary governance, drive institutional efficiency, and promote data-driven policy implementation across Nigeria.
Prof. Anosike’s recognition follows his impactful leadership in strengthening NiMet’s operational effectiveness, advancing climate resilience initiatives, and deepening the agency’s commitment to evidence-based service delivery.
The Awards Committee commended the NiMet DG for his strategic vision, outstanding reforms, and transformative contributions to Nigeria’s meteorological and climate services ecosystem.
His honour in the Excellence in Public Service category highlights his dedication to innovation, service quality, and sustained institutional advancement.
Other notable award recipients included the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, alongside several distinguished public officials celebrated for their contributions to national development.
