The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMET says light to moderate rainfall is expected across parts of Nigeria between Wednesday 18 and Friday 20 February 2026, with several southern and central states likely to experience wet conditions during the period.
According to the forecast, states anticipated to receive rainfall include Ekiti, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, Imo, Akwa Ibom, parts of Cross River, Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, Kogi, Ogun, Edo and Delta.
Other parts of the country are expected to record little or no rainfall during the same period.
NiMet cautions members of the public that strong winds may accompany the rains, posing risks such as falling trees, damage to weak structures and masts, slippery road surfaces, reduced visibility and possible disruption to road traffic.
It also advises motorists not to drive through surface runoff waters due to strong undercurrents, while residents are urged to disconnect electrical appliances before the onset of rainfall.
In areas where no rainfall is expected, no hydrometeorological hazards are anticipated.
However, the public is advised to remain vigilant and watch out for further updates as weather conditions may change.
