NITDA, Education Ministry Collaborate on Incorporating Digital Literacy

In a groundbreaking move to transform Nigeria’s educational landscape, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi accompanied by his management team, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa.

This visit marks the commencement of a strategic partnership aimed at integrating digital literacy into the country’s education system, from kindergarten through to tertiary institutions.

This initiative is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on equipping young Nigerians with the digital skills necessary to succeed in an increasingly digital world.

By embedding digital literacy into the curriculum, the partnership aims to empower students to become innovators and leaders in a technology-driven global economy.

The collaboration brings together key stakeholders, including CISCO, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the National Universities Commission (NUC), the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), the National Mathematical Centre (NMC), and the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC). Each organisation plays a crucial role in shaping the future of education and ensuring that digital education is inclusive, accessible, and of high quality across Nigeria.

Dr. Alausa echoed these views, underscoring the Ministry of Education’s commitment to innovation.
