NITDA Inaugurates Local Organising Committee for GITEX Nigeria 2025

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has officially inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to lead preparations for Nigeria’s first-ever participation in the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) in 2025.

The move marks a significant step towards positioning Nigeria as a key player in the global tech ecosystem.

Representing NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, at the event was Mr. Olawunmi Oladejo, Director of the Department of IT Infrastructure Solutions. During the ceremony, Oladejo reiterated NITDA’s commitment to delivering a seamless and impactful GITEX Nigeria event, highlighting its importance in fostering innovation and showcasing the country’s technological advancements.

“Through this strategic initiative, we aim to enhance Nigeria’s digital footprint and attract global attention to the innovation coming out of our tech sector,” Oladejo said.

“GITEX will not only open new doors for local companies but will also place Nigeria at the forefront of the global tech industry.”

GITEX, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious technology fairs, will be hosted in Nigeria for the first time, offering a unique opportunity to showcase the country’s technological capabilities and innovations. The LOC is composed of members from various public and private sector organizations, including the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), and the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS), as well as other stakeholders in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. The committee will be responsible for coordinating all the activities and logistics leading up to the event, ensuring its success.

With GITEX Nigeria 2025 on the horizon, NITDA’s efforts reflect the Nigerian government’s continued push to strengthen the country’s position in the global tech landscape, promote innovation, and drive economic growth through technology.
