NJTF Takes Stand Against Gender Based Violence

The Force Commander, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) says it has taken a firm stand against gender-based violence in the conduct of its operations.

The Force Commander MNJTF, Major General Ibrahim Ali stated this during the opening ceremony of a workshop on sexual abuse and gender-based violence in conflict environment held on Monday 20th November 2023 at N’djemena, Chad.

The workshop according to the Chief of Military Public Information MNJTF N’djamena Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi was designed to enhance the understanding of participants regarding the dynamics of sexual exploitation and gender-based violence in operational contexts.

General Ali emphasised that the MNJTF has been instrumental in rescuing thousands of women and girls from the clutches of terrorists in recent years, underscoring the force’s commitment to upholding human rights and enhancing the protection of vulnerable populations.


The Force Commander expressed gratitude towards the African Union Mission Support Team for organising the training, recognising the crucial importance of addressing and preventing gender-based violence within the operational framework.

The MNJTF’s unequivocal stance on gender-based violence during operations underscores its dedication to promoting a safe and secure environment for all individuals affected by conflict and instability.
