NMA offers free medical services to FCT community
The Nigeria Medical Association, FCT chapter (NMA-FCT), on Wednesday, offered free medical services to Giri community in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory Council, Abuja.
The NMA Chairman, Dr Charles Ugwuanyi, said during the event that services offered were aimed at giving back to the society.

Represented by Dr Adewale Adeleye, the Assistant Secretary, NMA-FCT, and a public health physician, Ugwuanyi said that the outreach was part of activities to mark the 2023 Annual General Meeting of the association.
According to him, the choice of Giri community for the outreach was not out of place, as the association continue to conduct such outreach on quarterly basis as its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
He added that, “The reason for selecting Giri community is because we have done same in Kwali, Kubwa and Bwari.
“Its been long we carried out an outreach in Gwagwalada, so we deem it fit to hold it here.
“The outreach we are carrying out here are essential services (primary services), we have screened people for diabetes, gave medications for High Blood Pressure (HBP).
“We are also deworming children, treating infection in both men and women; we have medications for pregnant women, for people with eye problem, and people with ear and nose conditions.”
Ugwuanyi disclosed that there are many medical doctors on ground to treat dental problems, as well as pharmacists to take care of vital signs and other primary services.
He said that NMA-FCT was able to deworm more than 170 children, and treated more than 60 persons for eye issues and 300 for general out patient.
He added that, a lot of money was put in place to get the treatment done, while advising Nigerians to take their health seriously.
Dr Ayogu Emeka, the Chairman, Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the AGM, also reiterated the need for Nigerians to take their health seriously.
