NNPC Flags-off Maiduguri Emergency Power project

The NNPC’s Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari Kolo, who led the NNPC delegation to Maiduguri, in his opening remarks thanked President Buhari for directing the co-operation to install an alternative energy to the Maiduguri environs due to outage of power for more than nine months as a result to activities of the Boko haram insurgents.

The GMD assures that the project will be delivered in good time, he said items for the project have been procured and we will be delivered by October.

The Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum expressed his joy and also thanked Mr. President for the directives.

Governor Zulum perform the ground breaking said “the power plant will impact positively on the economy of the state, especially the small scale and medium businesses”. 

He said in the last nine months, Boko Haram insurgents have damaged 33KVA transmission tower lines along Maiduguri-Damaturu highway, thereby hampering all efforts to restore power in the capital city.
