The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NPPC, has reassured Nigerians that there is enough premium motor spirit, also known as petrol, to last for thirty-two days.

There has been a scarcity of petrol in Nigeria forcing people to stay for a long time in queues to buy the product at fuel stations in major cities across the country.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, Laolu Akande, who spoke to the media after Wednesday’s cabinet meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, said that the Group Managing Director of the NNPC briefed the Council on the availability of petrol.

“He informed the Council that there is enough stock; I think about 1.9billion litres that is available; enough to last for 32 days.

“He also said that the agency is working 24 hours; there is 24-hour loading that is going on at all deports across the country, working with the DSS (Directorate of State Services), MOMAN (Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria), DPM (Department of Petrol Marketing) and IPMAN (Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria) to ensure that this situation improves significantly,” Akande stated.
