The National Women Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Dr. Mariam Yasin, stated that the turnout of women at the NNPP National Convention and Presidential Primary is a demonstration that the party prioritises inclusion and equal participation.

During an interview in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, Dr. Mariam Yasin spoke shortly after the party formally and unanimously affirmed Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso as its sole presidential flag bearer for the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking in an interview with Voice of Nigeria Correspondent Nokai Origin, Dr. Yasin further stated that National security is a significant party concern. It will be one of the critical issues to be tackled alongside economic revitalization if elected into office.

“Security is an area that must be addressed first because if there is peace of mind, the economy will grow, and everyone will have freedom of movement and trade, which will make the economy thrive.

Secondly, education, a major factor that makes people beneficial to their society by using skills gained to contribute meaningfully to national growth, electricity is also a major concern as it affects businesses, “ stated Dr. Yasin.

Also, the FCT Women Leader of the Party, Hajiya Saudat Abdullahi, stated that the first point of call for any leader elected into office in Nigeria would be security, followed by education, infrastructure, and health, among other aspects of national lives.

The New Nigeria People’s Party held its National Convention and Presidential Primary on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. The party affirmed former Kano State Governor Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso as its flag bearer in the 2023 general elections.
