Nollywood crime thriller set to hit cinemas

The highly anticipated Nollywood crime thriller ‘Red Circle’ is set to hit cinemas nationwide on June 6.

The Rixel Studios made this announcement via its social media platforms disclosing the  global theatrical release of the movie to fans and lovers of film.

 

The film, which brought together an ensemble of Nollywood’s finest cast and crew, also delivered a gripping narrative that blends suspense, action, and an unfiltered look at power and corruption in modern-day Lagos.

 

Nora Awolowo, one of the producers of the thriller movie, said that the ‘film is their labour of love’.

 

This film is our labour of love, whave poured everything into creating an experience that is both thrilling and socially relevant. We cannot wait for audiences to experience ‘Red Circle’ on the big screen.”

 

The movie was directed by Akay Mason (Elevator Baby, Superstar), written by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed (Brotherhood, Skinny Girl in Transit) and produced by Awolowo and Tijani-Ahmed.

 

The Red Circle featured a powerhouse cast, including Bukky Wright, Timini Egbuson, Tobi Bakre, Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Branch, Omowunmi Dada, Mike Afolarin,  Ruggedman Debo Macaroni among others.

 

The movie followed investigative journalist Fikayo Holloway (played by Folu Storms), as she unraveled a web of secrets tied to a powerful crime syndicate in the Lagos metropolitan area.

 

Her investigation laid her to a mysterious businessman, who pulled the strings of corruption, wealth, drugs, and even murder in the city, but exposing him became a risk that threatened not only her life but the lives of those dear to her.

 

With the rise of investigative journalism narratives in pop culture, from documentaries to fictional thrillers, the film taps into the world’s growing fascination with corruption, media ethics, and whistleblower risks”.

 

The movie, which sets against the vibrant backdrop of Lagos, offered a distinctively Nigerian perspective on these issues that audiences at home and abroad could.
