Nollywood set to promote diversity, inclusivity for economic growth .

Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry, acknowledges the significance of fostering diversity and inclusivity among its members to contribute to the economic growth of the country.
A Nollywood actor and film producer, Mr. Francis Duru said this while speaking to journalists during the Inside Nollywood International Film Festival & Awards INIFFA held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Mr. Duru said the festival with the theme, festival of expressions is aimed at promoting diversity and inclusiveness in the Nigerian creative industry and telling the Nigerian story to the world.
“It’s about time we get into the business of entertainment properly. It’s about time we had a platform that will encourage stakeholders in the sector to come together and I guarantee you that the international community is ready for us,” he said.
He emphasised the need for inclusivity in the entertainment industry as it is crucial for the continued growth and success of the Nigerian creative industry.
“The industry has increasingly embraced filmmaking that depicts Nigeria’s cultural diversity and tackles issues of social inequality to reflect the country’s socio-cultural reality,” he further said.
While speaking, a filmmaker and Vice President for Africa at the International Federation of Film Producers Association, FIAF, Alex Enyero said the promotion of diversity and inclusivity in Nollywood can also increase its global appeal and relevance in the international film circuit.
“This film festival is vital as it leads to socially responsible filmmaking that can ignite positive social change and give a diverse range of creatives a platform to showcase their talents,” Enyero said.
He urged the federal government to partner with film festivals to unveil talents in the creative industry.
